Well, 2013 didn't exactly go as planned. But I guess they rarely do. In 2012 I had what I thought was a super difficult and challenging year because of my IC. It took its toll and as 2012 came to a close I wished for a better New Year in 2013! It couldn't get worse, I thought, so there was nowhere to go but up. Boy was I wrong.

2013 has been even more challenging for me health-wise. I really didn't think that was possible. But after an 8 day stay in the hospital, 7 weeks of struggling with this lung disease and no improvement in sight right now, it's hard to get enthusiastic about the New Year.

But I am going to give it my best effort to believe that 2014 will bring better things. I am going to make every effort to think positive that we will figure this out and get me back on track. I am going to be proactive and insist on better answers, treatments and help. I am going to try not to let this get me down.

The New Year is always looked upon as an opportunity for a "fresh start". So, here's to a Happy New Year for us all! I wish everyone better health in this New Year!

"Auld Lang Syne" - Mairi Campbell

  1. Hi Catherine,
So sorry it's been so long although you have been on my mind. Very sorry to read that you have been so I'll for so long. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I can't even imagine what your pain level was, knowing IC played a huge painful role as well.
Me, well I've had my struggles with IC. Everyday, every minute you never know. I'm having me knee fully replaced on January 15th. Yikes!
Is Medical Marijuana legal in your state? I am licensed to carry and let me tell you that it's amazing for relief for pain. Better than everything I have tried. I just can't use when I have a place to go because I will be drowsy. It only takes a small amount of a cookie or watermelon mint to relieve the pain at least for a few hours.
Please know I'm praying for your quick recovery and that 2014 is a better year.

    Warmest regards

    1. Lynne; Thanks for your kind message. I applaud you going ahead with knee replacement! My Mom has had both hers done and there is no way I could do it with my IC/PFD. I could never handle the rehab, never mind I can't take anything for pain so I just could never do it. My knees are starting to be a problem on stairs and I just figure it will be something I deal with as I get older. Good luck; I'll be thinking of you and wishing you well!

This has been a tough two months that's for sure. Hoping the snow storm we are having doesn't keep me from my appointment tomorrow with the Pulmonologist. I also have an appointment with an Allergist scheduled for next week. We need answers; this can't continue as it is. Marijuana was legalized here but JUST and nothing is in place yet but it is something I would try. My cousin in California has been battling malignant melanoma and has been using it during her chemo and swears by it.

Yes, here's to a much better 2014 for us all!

    2. Cath,
Definitely try the medical marijuana. I also swear by it. It comes in all forms and aside from being on a morphine pump, this is the next best thing. You would be approved hands down. It takes literally 10 minutes to start working.
Let me know if you pursue.
I have two doctor appts tomorrow that I cannot miss.
      Can't wait for spring!
